On this page you can find all necessary information for your class’s visit to Barley Hall, including opening times and duration, pricing and payment information and facilities. You can also download our handy downloadable teachers’ guide

Opening Times

Summer (April – Oct) 10am to 5pm

Winter (Nov – March) 10am to 4pm.


The duration of a visit to Barley Hall varies according to your booking, but standard admission includes the option of a tour of the house, lasting 1 hour.

Individual workshops will take an additional 45 minutes.

Half-Day Experiences last approx. 2 hours; this is in addition to any other attractions visit(s) or workshops booked.

Full Day Experiences are stand-alone packages- they last approx. 4 hours in total, (usually between 10am-2pm), including time for lunch.

Prices from September 2019

Pricing information should be reduced to just include prices for visits to attractions and standard workshop charges, with readers encouraged to consult the Learning Programme for more information about learning in the classroom and other aspects of our offer.

Workshop Prices (charged in addition to attractions admission)

Payment Options

The following payment methods are accepted:

  • In advance: over the phone with our Reservations team
  • On arrival: by cash, card or cheque
  • By invoice: after your visit (UK addresses only)

Please bring your booking confirmation with you when you arrive for your visit.

Lunch Spaces

School groups visiting Barley Hall are welcome to eat packed lunches in the Great Hall for no additional cost. Please note that pre-booking is essential.


At Barley Hall we want to make sure that we deliver a welcoming and enjoyable environment for all visitors.

Facilities available at Barley Hall are:

– Free lunch facilities in the Great Hall for schools booking a full day visit to Barley Hall; please pre-book. For half day visits, schools can use the DIG lunch room subject to availability.

Please ensure your pupils respect other visitors, museum objects and attraction staff. Staff reserve the right to ask visitors to leave if their behaviour disrupts the experience of others in the attraction.
