Coronavirus / COVID-19 Policy
Following government guidance, we have introduced a number of new measures to keep school visitors to Barley Hall safe, including restricting the number of people in the attraction, ensuring social distancing and adding extra cleaning and hygiene precautions for visitors, staff and volunteers.
Our procedures have gained the ‘Good to Go’ certification from Visit England, so visitors can be assured that we have followed government and industry COVID-19 guidelines. Our website offers further information on these measures, under Social distancing and safety, but we require all schools intending on visiting the attractions to make use of the COVID-19 Advice for Visiting Schools document, which contains important information for teachers undertaking a school trip with us.
Given the current COVID-19 situation and to help keep pupils, students and staff safe, we are unfortunately unable to accept school visits from Tier 3 restricted areas. For any pre-booked visits and schools who get placed in the Tier 3 category we are able to offer you a fabulous Virtual package as an alternative and we will endeavour to book these sessions on the same day as your original visit. For further details see here.
However, should you wish to move your booking to an alternative date we would also be more than willing to accommodate this.
Please talk to a member of our Reservations team to discuss options and availability.
Our opening times are subject to change at present and the latest times can be viewed here.
When making your booking with our Reservations team, you will be offered a schedule with a time of entry to Barley Hall. School visits schedules are currently being offered between the times of 10am and 3pm.
We ask that you arrive 10 minutes early to allow time to complete paperwork and for our friendly medieval guides to welcome your group and prepare them for their visit.
A tour of Barley Hall will last approximately 1 hour. Workshops last approximately 45 minutes and if you book a workshop in addition to the tour, you may be offered a schedule where your class is divided into smaller groups to cycle between the workshop and tour activities smoothly.

Single male and female toilets are available and we recommend you visit the facilities in small groups before or between your activities. There is no accessible toilet.
Storage baskets for coats and bags are available. These are not secured or supervised, and are for use while on-site only.

The ground floor can only be accessed by people who are wheelchair users via ramps over thresholds. There are steep stairs and high thresholds throughout.
